Coping with change

Change is inevitable for all organisations and in what seems an increasingly VUCA world (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) the rate and size of change only seem to be getting bigger as time passes.

There is a statistic out there that 70% of change management initiatives fail, one of the first things they teach you on a MBA, this is followed by a whole raft of change processes to arm you as a manager to cope with change. Anybody who has an MBA will recognise the names, Lewin, Kotter, Balogun and Hope Hailey to name but a few.

I don't know if 70% of change fails, it's irrelevant. What matters is the success of your change project!

All change is difficult, that is the truth, because it involves dealing with people a lot of whom do not want to change or see the need for it.
